Admission is highly competitive and is based on a number of factors, including your fit with the program and potential contribution to a collegial learning environment, relevant work experience, leadership potential, letters of recommendation, and a competitive GMAT or GRE score.
Eligibility Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of seven years of full–time work experience, including significant experience at a management level. Professionals who exhibit expertise in project or budget management and entrepreneurs will also be taken under consideration, should they demonstrate significant leadership ability.
- Employer support to participate and attend all classes.
Application Deadlines
Applications are accepted throughout the year. The deadline for the August 2013 start date is July 15, 2013. Early application is advised because enrollment is limited and qualified applicants are accepted on a first–come, first–served basis.
Application Requirements
- Online application
- A current resume
- Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended
- Official GMAT or GRE score, if the applicant does not already hold a master's degree from an accredited U.S. institution
- The Admissions Committee will consider requests for a GMAT waiver on a case–by–case basis
- Two professional letters of recommendation from current or former supervisors
- A personal career goals statement
- An interview with an associate from the School of Management
international students
Students who have their degree from outside of the U.S. may be asked to submit a TOEFL score. Below are the minimum scores accepted by the EMBA program.
- Internet Based TOEFL (IBT): 93, with no less than a 20 in any of the four sections
- Computer Based TOEFL (CBT): 237
- Paper Based TOEFL (PBT): 580
- IELTS – Academic: 6.5 total band score
- Pearson Test of English: 59 overall score

Admissions Process
- Submit online application and fee by the admissions deadline.
- The resume and career goals statement must be uploaded and submitted with the online application. Professional recommendations can be provided via email as part of the application process. Official transcripts should be sent directly to the Online Education Center; you may also submit your transcripts electronically, if your institution subscribes to such a service. GMAT or GRE scores will be made available to the Executive MBA Admissions Office electronically if you request that scores be sent to George Mason University.
- The admissions committee will review your application portfolio.
- An associate from the School of Management will contact you to set up an interview.
- You will be notified of our admissions decision approximately 10 days after receipt of your complete application package and completion of your personal interview.
- If accepted into the Mason EMBA program, you will enroll by the appropriate deadline.
